The idea of a radio controlled Minor was something Robin had wanted to do for some time but it is a problem of the body. We have a pot
Morris Minor which was about the correct size, the problem was making a fibreglass body from it. Due to the body shape a simple mould
was not possible. The solution was given to us by Strand who sold the materials to make a flexible mould rather like a rubber mask.

Polishing the pot Minor with release agent.

Mixing the moulding agent.

The pot Minor is polished with release agent so the mould will
not stick to it.

Mixing the moulding agent in mothers best bowl. The mixture
is 2 part.

The mould is pasted on like icing a cake.

The task was to get a good covering without it running off.

A different approach to applying the mould.

To prevent the mould running off, cardboard was tried to
support it. It did not work and a different solution was tried.

--------------------------------------------------------------

It was decided to get gravity to help. The box contains damp
sand with a small gap between the sand and pot Minor into
which the mould was poured. The dowel is to support the pot
Minor.

Breaking mould from box.
Split fibre glass mould.

Once the mould was set the sand was removed from around
the flexible impression. Next the rubber mask like shape was
put back over the pot model and a fibreglass split support was
put on top of the rubber.

-------------------------------------------------------------

This is the fibreglass split support for the flexible mould. To
make a body the flexible mould is put inside this fibreglass
support then very fine matting is layed up on the inside. When
set the outer support is seperated the flexible mould can be
peeled away to reveal the body.
